Senegals oil production estimate for the Sangomar offshore field in 2025 has been increased from 30.53 million barrels to 34.5 million barrels. Senegal formally joined the group of countries that produce oil when Sangomar, which is run by Australias Woodside Energy Group, started production in June 2024. According to the energy ministry, the field delivered more than 24 million barrels of petroleum between January and August 2025. The updated prediction indicates increasing momentum in Senegals energy sector and reflects betterthanexpected performance. Analysts see this as a positive for the nations economic prospects and regional clout, particularly as West African countries aim to leverage the development of natural resources in the face of global energy shifts and growing need for a variety of supply sources. After Canonicals servers went down for 36 minutes on September 5 and 7, Ubuntu users experienced extended delays in updates. Despite the short outage, it caused a huge backlog of update requests, which resulted in days of unsuccessful installations, stalled processes, and damaged repositories. Installing Ubuntu Server 24.04.2 LTS was difficult for users some users reported problems even two days later. Although the issue was declared addressed on Canonicals status page, community feedback indicated that there may still be lingering disruptions. Erich Eickmeyer, the lead for Ubuntu Studio, verified that the backlog overloaded security updates and mirrors. Services returned to normal on September 8, but the event brought to light the dangers of even brief disruptions to vital infrastructure and the dependence of the Linux community on security.ubuntu.com. A significant supplychain attack known as "GhostAction" gained access to 327 GitHub accounts and stole 3,325 secrets, including GitHub credentials, AWS keys, and PyPI tokens. After a fraudulent GitHub Actions workflow was introduced into the FastUUID project, security firm GitGuardian found the compromise. The method was utilised by the attacker to steal confidential information from Cloudflare, DockerHub, and npm. Many impacted repositories undid the changes after GitHub was notified and the campaign was shut down. "S1ngularity," a different npm assault, affected 2,000 accounts but was judged unrelated. GitGuardian alerted users by creating bugs in compromised repositories. The incident emphasises the growing risks to opensource ecosystems and the pressing need for proactive monitoring and more robust CI/CD pipeline security. Read More..
